His will be done

“Seek you first the kingdom of God . . .” is found at Matthew 6:33.  This is the antidote to the worry that disturbs our sleep, causes blood pressure to rise, ruins relationships and makes life miserable in so many ways.  We must remember that we are pilgrims and sojourners (1 Peter 2:11) living, loving and serving in this fallen world while we are looking toward the return of the King and His Kingdom.

Never do we see Jesus unaware and uncaring about the hurting and lost around Him as He came proclaiming the Kingdom of heaven.  It is not for us to polish the trinkets of this world while we wait on His return.  Instead, as stewards — not owners — we serve the Lord in sanctifying our lives while we share the gospel, the good news of the Kingdom.  We cannot only focus on our individual walk before the Lord in holiness without stopping alongside the broken and sinful to share how we came to know the Savior.

Jesus said that He came to seek and to save that which was lost — that is us and all those around us.  We must live lives that match what we proclaim on Sunday mornings with how we live on Tuesday afternoons, Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.  Our orthodoxy (beliefs) must match our orthopraxy (living out) on a daily basis in whatever situation and circumstance we find ourselves.

And how do we do that?  By seeking first HIS kingdom, not our own nor as owners, but as servants and stewards of the Lord.

Pressing on…
