Use The Light To Defeat The Darkness
Word-Of-The-Day: ‘(4) In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. (5) The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.’ (John 1:4-5); ‘The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.’ (Isaiah 9:2); ‘(5) This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. (6) If we claim to have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.’ (1 John 1:5-6)
In studying the Book of Isaiah, we find parallels between the Israel of Isaiah’s time and our world of today; the people are hedonistic and turning away of God. Materialism and a leaning towards ‘feelings and desires’ were leading the masses toward a life and a lifestyle that didn’t include God. Their needs being met, they believed there was no need for God to be in their lives. As is the case today, the masses were wrong as they are today.
The leaders attempted to usurp God by turning to false gods or portraying themselves or each person as a god in their own right. Today our leaders issue proclamations to try to supersede Christian traditions and celebrations for the ‘flavor of the week’, or the ‘next big thing’ on their agenda. Things that they want to be celebrated are evil and destructive, by even the morality of many non-Christians these can be seen as reprehensible. Yet while claiming to be ‘Christian’ they promulgate policies and movements that oppose Godly values. It is an attempt to subvert, twist, and propose God’s Word is either misunderstood or is out of touch to the world that He created.
But in Jesus we have the Light that removes the darkness! As much as the kings of Israel and Judah, and their surrounding nations, tried to remove God from the people, God overcame their attempts. Today when our leaders try to subvert God, Jesus comes out and the Truth is revealed. When the Gospel message is given, people listen. Not all respond to the call of Christ to accept Salvation, but many do recognize the Truth in the Light over the lies in the darkness. We see the false ‘Christians’ who proclaim they live in Christ yet do their best to support that which opposes Him; the Truth clearly reveals them when the darkness is lifted.
Reject the lies that reside in the darkness, and accept the Truth in the Light of Christ. Do the work requested of us in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20) to give others the access to the Light so that they can see through the darkness and avoid stumbling on the obstacles Satan places in front of them to fall upon!
