Salvation: wholly the work of God
I want to reinforce the truth that we all are in need of God’s grace, forgiveness and salvation. None of us, not one single person, has ever been able to save himself or herself from their sin. Romans 3:10-12, “There is none righteous, no, not one; there is none who understands;, there is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; they have together become unprofitable; there is none who does good, no, not one.”
In fact, there is not one thing we can add to the mix to save ourselves. Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Salvation is wholly the work of God, and I need HIs work in my life!
I also want to reinforce the need for us to be good theologians (studiers and seekers of God) for understanding how the world should work. Far too often we trust the “professionals” or the “scientists.” I value the benefit of a good education, but when the education leaves God outside the door and focuses on man’s reasoning, we will always find ourselves going astray (Romans 1:18-23). Job 28:28 tells us, “Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.”
Each Monday through Friday it is my usual practice to listen to The Briefing from Al Mohler. I want to encourage you to listen to or read the transcript of this podcast (The Briefing – AlbertMohler.com – Monday, February 24, 2025). It will be eye-opening!
If we admit we are broken and in need of God’s grace, how is it that we in turn then determine how and in what ways that grace is to be applied and lived out in our lives? Again, how can the clay say to the potter, “What is it that you are doing with me? ” We need to always remember that we are the creation, not the Creator. This should lead us to seeking His design and purpose in all areas of life, and most especially in the area of our sexuality.
Pressing on…
