Make an impact
I remember a performance review I had when I was about 45 years old. My manager asked me if I was being challenged in my position and what I hope to see happen in it. This review came back to mind Sunday as we were challenged about whether the “mission of our job or our life was taking positive action to change the world.”
I remember sitting there with my manager and telling him that I probably had 15-20 more good years to work and in that time I wanted to make an impact. Not an impact for myself or that I would be remembered, but that I wanted to make an impact for the Kingdom of God in the lives of others.
Since then, and again on Sunday, I reflect and ask the Lord to affirm and challenge me in the areas of my life about making an impact for the Kingdom of God. I remember my dad used to tell me over and over, “Can’t never did anything.” And I would add to that, neither will won’t. There is a Biblical principle here found in Galatians 6:7-10: “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
So what impact are you making today? Where and what are you sowing today? The answers to those questions tell us what to expect in the future. As for me, I am pressing on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Don’t know where or what impact to have? Come join me and let’s plant in the Kingdom of God!
Pressing On,
Ron Tipton, Senior Pastor
