Keep Your Water Clean & Your Container Leak-Free!
Word-Of-The-Day: ‘<God said to Jeremiah,>“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.’ (Jeremiah 2:13); ‘(1) Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb (2) down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.’ (Revelation 22:1-2)
Awhile back, we had the issue with the man who had the ‘brain-eating amoeba’ from his tap water coming from the Charlotte County Water system. I am in no way saying the Charlotte County tap water issue is due to ‘corporate sin’ as God is referring to in Jeremiah (though if one fails to do their job, out of being apathetic, that would be a personal sin on the Water Department employee). But it is a great segue into needing fresh, clean water to live.
Clean water can cleanse us on the outside, it can be used to drink to ensure hydration that the body needs, to satisfy thirst and (whether we drink it or jump into a pool of it) to keep us cool when we are hot. We can heat the water and keep warm, we can freeze the water and make ice, but it has to be pure; else it can eat away pipes or never freeze and be a messy, dirty slush.
A broken cistern, or broken water container, can do two things; it can allow the clean water to leak out, and allow dirty contaminates to leak in. We see when our ‘tap water’ is contaminated, people can get sick and even die. The same is with our ‘Spiritual containers’. We need to be tune with what the Lord desires to keep our Spiritual containers pristine. When we sin, or worse tell God to take a backseat and replace Him with ‘me’ (my desires over His), we are using cracked pots, and His Living Water, Jesus, can’t work as we can’t hold onto Him. Instead, the dirty water seeps in and pushes Jesus out. We become contaminated with secular pollution that, in the end, leads to death, a life away from that which the Lord wants to provide for us.
Staying in tune with the Lord, through the study of His Word, prayer, and fellowship, allows us to maintain His ‘container’ to hold the Living Water, Jesus. This Water is the only Water that provides us His life and allows us to grow in Him and have Eternity with Him. Without Him we have destruction, separation from Him. Don’t settle for filthy contaminated water from your tap, and don’t settle for filthy contaminated water for your soul; get the best water for your physical health, and the get the Living Water for your Spirit!
