Hope, direction and discernment
In our passage from this morning’s sermon (Luke 24:1-7), we read, “ Remember how He spoke to you when . . .” in verse 6. Then in verse 8 we read, “And they remembered His words.” These words are said to Mary, overcome with grief and confusion as she came to anoint His body, but it is now missing. In the midst of the worst weekend, Jesus’ words provide the only hope that can be found in Mary’s world.
Thinking about this passage over the last few weeks, I found myself realizing that this is the same counsel I have received and given time after time — what does the Word of God say about… Remembering and clinging to the words of Christ Jesus provides hope, direction and discernment in the midst of any situation we encounter. Add to this that since His ascension to heaven, Jesus stands and advocates for us before the throne of God.
And all this adds to the hope and help we find in this day, the day Christ rose from the dead, never to die again.
Pressing On…
