Go with confidence

The evidence for the reliability and authority of Scripture extends far beyond our having faith or that it changed our life.  And yet, in a world of “itching ears” or skeptics, the evidence is jettisoned from life, and the person is left adrift with only their own personal opinions and “wisdom” to direct them toward eternity and away from a relationship with the God who created them.  Here are some additional resources to help you have confidence to enter the conversations with those needing the anchor of Scripture once again in their life.

J. Warner Wallace uses his experience as a cold-case detective to teach apologetics.  Any of his material (he even has some geared for children) will be helpful.  One of the books I mentioned yesterday was Person of Interest: Why Jesus Still Matters in a World that Rejects the Bible —  specifically chapter 9 about science and scientists.  The entire book is a great resource for you.  His website is coldcasechristianity.com and the book can be located in a variety of places online.

Josh McDowell wrote Evidence that Demands a Verdict, Volume 1, decades ago, but has updated it over the years with new and timely evidence.  I first read this as a teenager and refer to it often as a primary source for defending the reliability and authority of Scripture.  I found a PDF version of the book at https://www.agathonlibrary.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/McDowell-Josh-McDowell-Sean-Evidence-That-Demands-a-Verdict.pdf.  If you desire to purchase a copy, it is widely available.  The first section of this book will help  you in understanding and give you confidence in conversations about the topic of Scripture.

I also mentioned a sermon by Voddie Baucham about the Bible.  There are multiple versions of this sermon as he preached it many times.  Here is one link for you where he expounds and explains why he believes the Bible and helps you understand the miraculous nature of the Bible, its accuracy, reliability and authority.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMfKlqMNnw0

Again, our church and this pastor are not afraid of questions and want to help you, its people, to have a greater understanding and ability to trust the Bible’s authority and reliability.  If and when you have questions, let’s talk.

Pressing on…

Ron Tipton, Senior Pastor
