Word-Of-The-Day: ‘(1) But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. (2) People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, (3) without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, (4) treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— (5) having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. (6) They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, (7) always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.’ (2 Timothy 3:1-7)
Paul in his 2nd letter to Timothy, provides a warning that was provided to him through the Holy Spirit, which is similar to what the Apostle John wrote in Revelation; people will not love and be with Jesus, but they will lie and be with Satan. They will be consumed with self and be their own ‘gods’. This is unfortunately the path of those who are of the oligarchy of the elite today; billionaires who think they can control the people. Many have ‘good intentions’, end world hunger; end disease; open up space to expand mankind into the universe. Yet their ambition, while notable, is based on ‘self’.Â
Paul notes in verse 6 that those consumed with self-righteousness believe they know what is best for you, more than you know what is best for you. Healthcare is one such example; healthcare was a choice that you made for yourself only 20 years ago, and you could get away with a modicum of insurance while having the freedom to choose a course of treatment, to freely discuss with your doctor any and all options.Â
Now, treatments you and the doctor recommend are approved or denied by your healthcare insurance provider; many may deny treatment based on cost or patient age. Soon treatments may eventually be based on ‘social scoring’ or how well one falls into societal ‘norms’ (are you pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ, or are you a ‘Deplorable Neanderthal’?) Globalists want to monitor your consumption habits, and control how you shop, or where you go, or even what to watch on TV or social media. ‘Gullible women (and men)’ are those who are for ‘the current thing’ or the ‘flavor of the week’ when it comes to social causes, jumping on moving bandwagons of dubious causes, duped by their feelings instead of having a firm foundation in the Truth.
Paul’s warning is for us, as Christians, to avoid such people, and to rebuke those who deny the Truth of Christ. The best way to go about this is to stay strong in the Word (prayer, fellowship, and study!) and to share the Word so that others can join us. There is strength in numbers, and infinite strength in God! We see our society falling to the lies perpetrated by social influencers, but there is yet still time to have people turn toward the Truth of Jesus. Most of all, guard yourself from the onslaught by staying in the Word and wearing the Armor of God that He has provided for us (Ephesians 6:10-18), and love your God with all your heart, soul, and strength and tap into the Holy Spirit to discern and find the Truth.
