December 23 – Day 24

Revelation 1:4-7

“…Grace and peace to you from the One who is, who always was, and who is still to come… All glory to Him who loves us And has freed us from our sins by shedding His blood for us, He has made us a Kingdom of priests for God His Father. All glory and power to Him forever and ever! Amen. Look, He comes with the clouds of heaven, And everyone will see Him-Even those who pierced Him: and all the nations of the world will mourn for Him. Yes! Amen.”

Many things are written about the First Advent of Christ, but what about His Second Advent? As we see here in scripture there is definitely a Second Advent, not as a baby, not as a crucified Lord and Savior, but as our coming Righteous King to rule, judge and reward. There are many scriptures that point to this upcoming event. Here are just a few:

  • Daniel tells us in the Book of Daniel 7:13-14“…I saw what looked like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven, and he was presented to the Eternal God.  He was crowned king and given power and glory, so that all people of every nation and race would serve him.  He will rule forever, and his kingdom is eternal never to be destroyed”.
  • Isaiah 11:10“In that day the Heir to David’s throne will be a banner of salvation to all the world.  The nations will rally to Him, and the land where He lives will be a glorious place.”
  • Revelation 22:12“Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds.”

But what meaning does this hold for each of us?  The Second Advent is not only the fulfillment of prophecy, it is the final fulfillment of God’s plan to bring an end to sin, suffering and death!

Revelation 21:3“I heard a loud shout from the throne saying, Look, God’s home is now among his people. He will live with them and they will be his people.  God himself will be with them.  He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain.  All these things are gone forever.”

His Second Advent establishes the Kingdom of God and hope and motivation for followers of Christ everywhere!

Isaiah 65:17“Look!  I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore.”

But what if you’re not a believer in Christ?  In 2 Corinthians 6:2 we read, “For He says: In an acceptable time I have heard you.  And in the day of salvation I have helped you.  Behold, now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation.”

Why not make this day a day of celebration? Christ’s salvation is open for all who will receive His free gift of forgiveness. If you have already received His gift, now is the time to celebrate His Second Advent.

MARANATHA! Come, Lord Jesus, COME!
