As We Approach America’s 250th Birthday, Be Diligent To Protect Our Freedoms

Word-of-the-Day: ‘(8) Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. (9) The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,”, and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (10) Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law.’ (Romans 13:8-10)

As much as it is a blessing to live in the United States, as opposed to anywhere else in the world, we are not immune to the issues other people have.  Some of it has been imported here, through our weak immigration controls (both legal and illegal), poor education of our children, and our own lapse of following God and His word.

Socialism and communism have unfortunately taken root in several states, such as Virginia, California, and New York, where naturalized or non-native-born American citizens, who have not fully assimilated into American norms and our way of life, have won important elections at both the local and national level, and are voting in similar fashion to how they would vote in their native lands.  In an educated, free, and moral society, socialism and restrictions of freedom are not compatible to the liberties enjoyed.

Unfortunately, the lack of an education that provides critical thinking skills, combined with the loss of the teachings of the morality of God and His precepts has allowed some of our more progressive states to dare attempt to subjugate the people with socialist policies, such as the government takeover of housing in New York City and unconstitutional restrictions on the freedom of speech, assembly and self-defense in Virginia.  Voting fraud appears rampant in California.

There are several causes for these failures, including the ones mentioned above, but the biggest cause of these is selfishness and the pursuit of power for one’s self.  There is no consideration on what such policies will have on the American people, only the level of power achieved by pushing such agendas forward.  Socialism is beneficial for the chosen few who lead, Communism takes away more than it provides.  Both operate best in an environment where the worship of God is curtailed or removed, and the love for your neighbor is replaced with the love of the state.

God’s plan is not one of restriction, but one of free will; it is also based on His Ten Commandments, which are based on the Two Greatest Commandments; Love your God, and Love your neighbor as yourself.  If we indeed would love God, we would not want His Word to be silenced but proclaimed; if we indeed love our neighbors, we would want them to succeed and be free of burdens, not weighed down with more bureaucracy.

We as a free people should expect and demand open and fair elections, free from fraud and the scales of justice unjustly imbalanced.  Our neighbors should be free to speak their concerns and opinions, even if we do not agree with them.  Our markets should be free from government tyranny and be allowed to be set by supply and demand, not through the fiat of a ruling class.

Love is allowing the liberty for others to flourish and to let an open determination of trial and error to provide rewards, or consequences, of their actions.  Education should not be geared toward a particular social construct weighed down with political dogma but be provided to the students through the allowance of critical thinking skills to allow them to determine and decide what wins and what loses in the ‘marketplace of ideas’

Forcing the people into compliance is not Godly, moral, or just, but subjecting them into a form of slavery.  An open and fair society will have God win out, as He has always done – and He always has won out over the desires of men who want to deny Him.  Hold those who desire to control the people accountable, and do not allow those who want power over the people to succeed.

Speak up for freedom and against tyranny, and lift God, His Word, and His ways over the ways of destruction and subjugation.  When freedom is proclaimed, Jesus is as well.  Freedom is not easy to achieve and harder to keep, but don’t allow the 250 years of American freedom to fall for the sake of limited convenience and false security, but fight to maintain it and the true security that only a relationship with Jesus can bring.
