Don’t Fret Or Face Regret – Trust the Lord & Plan Ahead!
Word-Of-The-Day: ‘(7) Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. (8) Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. (9) For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.’ (Psalm 37:7-9)
BE PREPARED, BE AWARE, PLAN ACCORDINGLY. Look, analyze, and act. To act productively, one must have concern. If you look in your refrigerator and you have less than a quarter of milk in the jug remaining, you should be concerned enough to add milk onto your shopping list and then (at some point) go get the milk. Concern allows for thought, before decisions and actions are made.Â
If you get anxious over having very little milk, you could panic and in haste do something counterproductive; like pour orange juice over your corn flakes (bleh!). Â Anxiety leads to panic and stress which begats mistakes that compound the panic and stress (especially after you take a bite of corn flakes soaked in orange juice).
On a larger scale beyond breakfast cereal, be concerned over what is happening to our nation, be concerned over the events within your life, but do not panic. Psalm 37 tells us not to fret over such things; it is somewhat gut-wrenching to see what is happening today but we have to put it in the perspective that in the scheme of Eternity, what happens today (with the exception of having someone accept Christ) is superfluous. We should be concerned over the possible demise of the US or its destruction, because we live here and it is the earthly home the Lord has entrusted us with, but if it happens there is nothing we can do but trust in what the Lord has planned for us.Â
One can take action against that which is wrong, but it must be done out of concern to fix the situation; actions must be done in accordance to God’s direction. We can fix anything with God. Nothing is impossible, and while it may look improbable, God can fix the mess (more accurately, the messes) we are in today. Choose to trust in God and choose to trust the actions he wants us to take.
