December 21 – Day 22

John 14:1–6

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Have you ever looked forward to taking a long trip, but someone else was making all the plans? You don’t know exactly where you are going, or how you are getting there, but your spouse is handling everything, and you trust them completely. You know that whatever the arrangements are, they will be good, because love is guiding the plans.

That’s the kind of trust Jesus was calling for in John 14?

The disciples were troubled. Jesus had just told them He was leaving. They didn’t understand where He was going or how they could follow. But He said, “Trust Me.” “I’m going to prepare a place for you. I’ll come back and take you there Myself.”

This Advent season, we are the travelers waiting for the One who has gone ahead to make everything ready. Just as the disciples learned to trust Jesus in uncertainty, we too wait for His return with the same faith and assurance. He hasn’t left us guessing about the destination. He is the destination. He hasn’t left us wondering about the way. He is the Way.

When life has you confused, and you’re not sure about what to do next, remember this, Jesus: The One who loved you enough to come as a baby, and die as your Savior, is also the One preparing your eternal home. You can trust Him completely with the journey.

Lord Jesus, thank You for going before me and preparing a place I can call home. Teach me to trust You fully, even when I can’t see the way. As I wait for Your coming, fill my heart with peace and confidence in Your plan. Amen.
