December 11 – Day 12
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

In Micah 2:5-7 the Lord God made a proclamation that even though this little town of Bethlehem was of no consequence that the Lord had a plan that she who is given in labor will give birth to a son and he shall be the “Ruler in Israel”.
Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
Just imagine Mary’s mindset and life after the angel told her she would become pregnant and give birth to the Son of God.
“For with God nothing will be impossible.” Such a simple statement from the angel to Mary, yet such a profound statement about the power of God to all of us.
Mary was chosen by God to bring forth a Son. Not just any Son, but the Son of God and Son of Man.
Micah was a prophet of Judah who is considered a ‘minor prophet’ as his Book is small and is seen as a complimentary writing to the more substantial Books of Isaiah and Jeremiah.
The setting is the Kingdom of Judah, approx. 730 BC, during the reign of King Ahaz. Ahaz learns that the Kings of Israel and Aram had formed an alliance to come against him and his people’s hearts “shook as the trees of the forest shake with the wind.
Isaiah was a prophet of Judah who wrote his Book in two parts; the first between 740 BC – 700 BC (Chapters 1-39) and the second between 690 BC and 675 BC (Chapters 40-66).
